Anwick Forge was commisioned by the local parish council to reinstate the railings to the War Memorial located in the centre of Tattershall's historical Market Place. It was thought that along with much historical ironwork, they were sacrificed to 'the war effort'.
Photographic records and ironwork dating from the same period elsewhere in the Market Place gave strong clues as to the style of the railings to be made, so our blacksmiths forged these overlapping hoop top railings, which were very typical of the period and very common in the area.
The finials are also characteristic of the area and were cast from orginals that a resident kindly lent to us.
All the work was carried in consultation with - and to the full satisfaction of - the District Council's Conservation Officer
